How can we prevent stretch marks?
Most of you may not think this applies to you, as you almost certainly found this site searching for stretchmark removal, however - half the work is preventing stretch marks in the first place, or if you have gotten rid of yours - making sure you don't get any new ones!
As we don't know exactly what causes stretch marks, we cannot say "Just do this, and you won't have that problem". However, that doesn't mean you can't prevent stretch marks from occuring, or at the very least, minimize the chance that you may get them.
Just because you might get cancer without being a smoker, doesnt mean you should smoke.. Same principle applies here... MINIMIZE THE RISK!
- Eat healthy (Make sure you eat foods that contain zinc, Vitamins A, C and B and also sufficient amounts of protein)
- Drink plenty of water, at least eight 8 oz (About 250ml for you metric readers). Hydration is important for overall health and especially healthy elastic skin.
- Use a body brush or exfoliation cream on the areas that you wish to prevent stretch marks
- Exercise (Exercise keeps the entire body going like clockwork, that includes your skin!)
- Take your vitamins. This is one more way to ensure proper nutritional status, which is critical for your overall health and well-being, as well as beautiful skin.
- Keep skin liberally and effectively moisturised.
- Don't scratch areas where you may get stretch mark, if the skin is itchy, genly massage it with oils. Massaging promotes blood circulation which in turn helps new cell growth.
- You can even use a cream/ointment ment for preventing stretch marks, but be sure to do some research, don't fall for cheap advertisement! Remember: 90% of the products available for removing/preventing stretch marks are about as good as normal moisturizer lotion.
